Job Summary
Pathology is the department that studies and understands how illness and diseases develop and the impact they have on people. Across University Hospital Birmingham’s (UHB) the pathology laboratories support patient care through diagnosis, treatment and research through their well respected and accredited laboratories.
Responsibilities
In this role you will organise slides and reports for MDT meetings alongside general administrative duties, working closely with colleagues and the office manager to have a positive impact on patient care. The role requires efficient and flexible team working to meet service demands. Good communication skills and the ability to effectively prioritise own workload is essential.
* Co‑ordinating Multi‑Disciplinary Team meetings (MDTs).
* Logistical planning the transportation of diagnostic material to external Trusts and organisations.
* Receipt and booking in of diagnostic material (wax blocks and glass slides) sent for reporting and expert opinion.
* Dealing with telephone and email queries.
* General administrative duties.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential qualifications
* Good general education (e.g. GCSE English and Maths A‑C) GCSE level 9‑4
* Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in an administrative environment
Essential experience
* Experience of dealing with the public/customer service experience
* Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook)
* Experience of using IT systems
Desirable experience
* Experience of working in a busy environment
* Experience of working in healthcare

Salary: £25,760.00 to £27,476.00 annually
