As part of this growing platform, we are seeking an experienced Investment Officer to support capital deployment—primarily through on-lending structures with financial institutions to accelerate Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) investments. What You’ll Do As a core member of the Clean Energy and Energy Access Pillar investment team, you will: Originate, structure, and execute private credit investments in the DRE sector across Sub-Saharan Africa Lead on-lending transactions through commercial banks, microfinance institutions (MFIs), and other local intermediaries Drive the full deal lifecycle: sourcing, due diligence, credit structuring, execution, and portfolio monitoring Support co-investments alongside DFIs and catalytic investors Engage directly with African financial institutions and DRE developers to unlock scalable, replicable financing models Contribute to impact reporting, risk analysis, and fund governance processes Who We’re Looking For We’re seeking a candidate who combines strong credit expertise with on-the-ground investing experience in Africa’s DRE and financial sector landscape: At least 5-7 years in private credit, structured finance, or blended finance—ideally within a DFI, impact fund, or energy access platform Demonstrated experience deploying capital into DRE sectors via on-lending structures through banks or MFIs Deep understanding of Africa’s financial institution ecosystem Existing relationships across local banks, MFIs, and DRE market actors Strong analytical and credit structuring skills; self-starter with sound commercial judgment Fluency in English required Why Join Cygnum Capital?
