To provide holistic nursing care and support to children and young people with life-limiting/life-threatening conditions and their families/carers, utilising the skills, knowledge, and expertise of the qualified practitioner in a variety of situations, working on their own initiative and accessing and contributing to the skill base of the wider team. Working in collaboration with other services to best meet the needs of the child, young person, and their family.
Main duties of the job
To safeguard all children and young people accessing services by responding to concerns raised in a timely and appropriate manner and effectively escalating these in accordance with policies and procedures. At Demelza, you will care for children with a range of complex conditions, getting to know them and their families. You will structure your care around their individual needs, with no two days being the same.

Job responsibilities
Assess, plan, evaluate, and deliver high-quality nursing care to meet the diverse and individual needs of children/young people and their families within your competency level. Collaborate with team members to ensure care plans are implemented to the agreed standard. Support caseload management when this model of care is in place. Identify, escalate, and report significant changes in a child's or young person's condition or well-being outside your area of competence. Contribute to your area of delegated specialism with support from a Band 6 Registered Nurse. Deliver prescribed care, assessing and evaluating presentations and observations, and contributing to clinical reassessment, including End of Life Care with support. Establish professional relationships with children, young people, and their families through effective communication. Record accurately and contemporaneously following Nursing Midwifery Council standards and current legislation. Deliver post-death care and support the wider family. Support children and young people during external multidisciplinary meetings within your competency. Promote collaboration across Demelza sites. Work flexibly to meet service needs. Take responsibility for your development by participating in regular supervision to enhance learning and practice.

Qualifications
* Demonstrate close alignment to all Demelza values
* Registered Nurse on subpart 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Registers
* Childrens Nurse, Adult Nurse, or Learning Disability Nurse
* Educated to Level 6 of the National Qualifications Framework, or willingness to undertake this qualification
* Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of clinical skills in paediatric nursing
* Aware of safeguarding children and young people
* Experience working with children and/or young people with disabilities and complex health needs
* Hold a mentorship qualification or be willing to work towards one
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Willing to travel to other sites as required
* Full driving licence and access to own vehicle for business use or reliable transport arrangements
* Experience delivering end-of-life care
* Experience in paediatric intensive care
* Experience with long-term ventilation
