Contract Information
Salary: £42,694 per annum. Fixed‑term contract, 2 years. Full Time. Location: Cambridge.
Overall Purpose
To work within Noe Rodriguez’s group at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) developing high‑throughput light sheet microscopy and tissue‑clearing approaches for neuro‑immune organoid models and primary tissues.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and conduct research to image entire tissues at sub‑micron resolution using light sheet microscopy.
* Develop and optimise tissue‑clearing methods for live or fixed tissues.
* Identify, develop and apply a broad range of techniques to meet project objectives.
* Present scientific work at laboratory seminars and external meetings.
* Contribute to drafting scientific papers and preparation of research for publication.
* Engage in public outreach and translation of research findings into health‑care improvements.
* Assist in training PhD students and other LMB staff.
Working Relationships
Report to Dr. Rodriguez. Collaborate with Postdoctoral Scientists, Research Support staff, students within the group and across the LMB, and external partners such as James Manton.
Training & Development
* Participate in MRC training courses.
* Attend external training and personal development courses.
* Receive one‑to‑one guidance from Supervisor and other Scientists.
Qualifications
PhD in a relevant subject, or completion of PhD within 6 months of appointment. Post‑doctoral experience preferred.
Technical Skills
* Proficient in light sheet microscopy and/or cleared tissue preparation and imaging.
* Experience with optical engineering and instrument building.
* Ability to optimise both hardware and wet‑lab workflows.
Research Track Record
Demonstrated achievements and contributions to peer‑reviewed publications.
Additional Information
This post is funded through the Blue Sky Collaboration between the LMB and AstraZeneca (AZ) and is part of project BSF2‑32, "High‑throughput imaging of neuro‑immune organoids". Intellectual property will be owned by the LMB and will not impede publication.
