Our Apprentice Electrical Maintenance program has been designed so that the successful applicant will complete a modern apprenticeship. The apprentice programme is a 3-year apprenticeship. You will work alongside time served electrical and mechanical fitters/ wire persons learning key skills developing electrical fitting and wiring skills for working within substation construction up to 400kV.\n\nAs an Apprentice Fitter/ Wireperson you will attend Perth College to complete the required SVQ in Electrical Power Engineering SCQF Level 5. This is block release of usually 2 weeks.\n\nDue to the nature of where the college is located and where our various sites are located, you will ideally have your own transport.\n While at College:\nâ¢\tAttend college on the days and times associated with the qualification and agreed by tutors and managers.\nâ¢\tComplete the required work associated with SVQ assessments and Portfolios in a timely manner. (If there are any difficulties meeting required deadlines this should \n be raised with your tutors and manager).\n\nTypical duties while at Work include:\nâ¢\tWorking in Live Substations up to 400kV\nâ¢\tRead and understand electrical drawings associated with Protection Panel Installation wiring and circuit diagrams.\nâ¢\tRead and understand Cable Schedules and installation of multicore cables.\nâ¢\tRead and understand Primary Layouts installation of Circuit Breakers/Disconnectors/Earth Switches and Earth gid layouts.\nâ¢\tBe prepared to work at height and in outside conditions.\n The jobholder must be a results focused self-starter with the enthusiasm, motivation, and initiative to succeed in this role, possessing: \nâ¢\tA-C Scottish National 5 min grade C, or Scottish intermediate, which include English/Mathâs and Science and two other subjects.\nâ¢\tStrong IT skills when using a variety of Microsoft Packages.\nâ¢\tA desire to want a long-term career as a Fitter/ wireperson with good progression to Site Manager/Project Management.\nâ¢\tGood communication skills to ultimately liaise with colleagues and tutors.\nâ¢\tAn interest/understanding of technologies and engineering.\nâ¢\tFull UK Driving Licence.\n
