About the role:
The Systems Manager oversees the management, development, and maintenance of pension fund systems, ensuring compliance with legislation, governance, and cyber security standards. The role drives system improvements, data quality, and reporting to enhance efficiency and service delivery for over 20,000 LGPS members and Teachers’
Pension Scheme members. Responsibilities include implementing new technologies, supporting administration operations, and providing technical expertise to meet performance targets and regulatory requirements.
About you:
Working knowledge of Altair Pensions Software (or similar)
Detailed working knowledge of LGPS Regulations and associated legislation
Excellent IT/Technical skills, knowledge
Appropriate qualification in an appropriate discipline (e.g., IT, programming, statistics, finance etc.)
Reliable self-starter with ability to work effectively on own initiative and ability to operate with minimum supervision
Team player who can engage routinely, encouraging best practice with
colleagues about ongoing work and its wider implications, whilst also being able to write and prepare reports to deliver to management.
What you will do:
1. Manage and deliver a high-quality systems service to members and employers of the Powys Pension Fund to maximise efficiencies and promote an enhanced member service. Responsible for ensuring that the pension fund systems and processes comply with relevant legislation, regulations, and governance frameworks. This includes staying updated on changes in pension regulations and implementing necessary changes to maintain compliance, including the regulator’s expectations on cyber security.

3. Responsible for implementation and developments of systems and processes to improve the efficiency and enhance the overall performance of the fund against challenging key performance metrics set by the Committee and management. Develop and maintain appropriate data cleansing and data enrichment exercises to ensure that the fund can undertake its statutory duties in an efficient manner and ensuring that The Pensions Data scores are the highest attainable level.
4. Develop and provide reports to help management monitor and analyse key performance indicators to ensure objectives are met.
