Purpose of the Role

The Outreach Employment Advisor will support residents who have been out of work for longer periods and may need extra help to move back into employment. Working as part of the Bexley Business & Employment (BBE) team, you will help remove barriers to employment by providing tailored advice, guidance, and signposting to relevant BBE and partner services.

This role involves delivering employability support through outreach and community engagement, promoting BBE’s programmes and services, and helping residents to access training and sustainable employment.

Where required by specific programmes, the postholder will deliver support using both Individual Placement and Support (IPS) and the Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) models.

Key Accountabilities

* Recruit and onboard clients to employability programmes, managing a caseload of participants and delivering effective job search support.

* Motivate and assist residents in job search activities, including benefits and economic assessments, while developing realistic individual action plans.

* Attend and represent BBE at community outreach events such as job fairs, open days, redundancy projects, and other local initiatives.

* Deliver IPS and SEQF support models in line with fidelity standards, following a "place and train" approach to ensure residents receive appropriate services.

* Maintain an up-to-date understanding of Government employability initiatives to provide informed support and align delivery with policy objectives.

* Plan and deliver group sessions or workshops covering employability topics such as introductions to the service, CV writing, interview skills, job clubs, and application form completion.

* Ensure all onboarding and client documentation is accurately completed, tracked, and audited in line with GDPR and programme compliance requirements.

* Produce regular reports on caseloads, programme starts, and performance outcomes, maintaining accurate records to substantiate results and claims.

* Promote BBE services digitally, including through social media (TikTok, X, Instagram), the BBE website, and partnership communications with the Council’s corporate comms team.

* Review and develop operational processes to ensure services are delivered efficiently and effectively.

* Maximise the use of digital tools and new technology to enhance service delivery and resident engagement.

* Manage own workload and prioritise tasks to meet performance and programme targets.

* Maintain current professional knowledge and understanding of employment, skills, and welfare policy.

* Build effective working relationships with partners, employers, and colleagues to deliver joined-up services.

* Support occasional out-of-hours work where necessary (e.g., job starts or community events).

* Actively promote and support the Council’s safeguarding and equal opportunity policies, ensuring the welfare of all service users.
