About the role

The Clinical Specialist will provide expert physiotherapy leadership across acute and Major Trauma services, leading the advanced assessment and management of complex patients, including fractured neck of femur, trauma and orthopaedics within the inpatient trauma, orthopaedics and amputee team. Working closely with Therapy Service Leads and Team Leaders, the role models best practice, supports and develops staff, contributes to training and service development, and ensures care aligns with national standards and bestpractice guidelines.

Main duties

* Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care.
* Ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management.
* Accept sole clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, and organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical and non clinical priorities and use of time.
* Undertake the specialist and comprehensive assessment of patients referred from primary or secondary care, including those with a complex presentation, using investigative and analytical skills
* Formulate individualised management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning, and utilising a wide range of advanced treatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme of care in conjunction with the patient and carers.

Essential person specification requirements

* Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
* Registered with the Health Care Professions Council
* Have or be working towards Masters degree
* Leadership/ management course
* Evidence of comprehensive clinical band 6/7 experience.
* Experience with evidence of rotations in acute medical conditions
* Supervision of staff groups, inclusive of diverse skill mix
* Experience of integrated working
