INTERNAL VACANCY We are looking to recruit a reliable and motivated Building / Void Accomodation Cleaner to support the Councils Temporary Accommodation Service. This role plays an important part in ensuring that accommodation is clean, safe and welcoming for customers who may be experiencing homelessness and significant life change. You will be responsible for cleaning and preparing temporary accommodation units and communal areas to a high standard, supporting quick turnaround of properties so homes are ready for use when needed. This includes deep‑cleaning void flats following move‑outs, maintaining communal and external areas, and working closely with colleagues to identify any issues requiring repair or further attention. Working as part of a wider housing and support service, you will help create a positive environment that supports customer wellbeing and dignity. Customers may be vulnerable or experiencing stress, so a respectful, professional and non‑judgemental approach is essential at all times. The role involves working independently as well as alongside colleagues across temporary accommodation and housing services. You will be expected to follow health and safety procedures, use cleaning equipment safely, and report hazards, repairs or concerns promptly. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has good attention to detail, and understands the importance of maintaining high standards in accommodation settings. Previous experience of cleaning domestic or communal environments is desirable, but just as important is a willingness to learn, reliability and a commitment to providing good customer service. In return, the Council offers a supportive working environment, access to training, and a comprehensive benefits package including generous annual leave and pension provision. The Council is highly committed to investing in the talent and wellbeing of our staff and can offer a generous annual leave allowance, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, comprehensive Health & Wellbeing initiatives and a reward package which recognises your contribution. We can offer flexible working practices, community engagement and volunteer activities and, as part of our commitment to you, promote continuous Learning & Development. In addition we also offer a growing range of discounts, rewards and savings.
