Position
Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Nuffield Department of Medicine, Old Road Campus Research Building, Oxford, OX3 7DQ.
Overview
We are seeking an ambitious and motivated Research Assistant to join Dr Manav Pathania's lab within the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research at the University of Oxford. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team investigating the molecular mechanisms that drive brain tumour progression and therapeutic resistance.
You will contribute to cutting‑edge projects utilising in vivo brain tumour models, genetic barcoding, clonal lineage tracing, and single‑cell and spatial omics. The role will also involve supporting in vivo CRISPR screening approaches and assisting with lab management, animal licence ethical approvals, and manuscript preparation.
You will take a hands‑on role in designing and executing experiments that uncover how brain tumours grow, adapt, and resist treatment, contributing directly to high‑impact discoveries and publications. The position offers the opportunity to help shape complex multidisciplinary projects while supporting the smooth operation of a world‑class research lab. This is an exceptional chance to develop advanced experimental and analytical skills within a pioneering, collaborative, and highly supportive scientific environment.
Qualifications
It is essential that you hold a BSc or equivalent in cancer biology, neurobiology, cell and molecular biology or a relevant field.
You must have experience in working with in vivo models including primary and patient‑derived xenograft (PDX) systems as well as having a strong working knowledge of lab‑based techniques (confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, single‑cell spatial omics).
Applications
Applications for this vacancy should be made online and you will need to upload a supporting statement and CV. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience. Please restrict your documentation to your CV and supporting statement only. Any other documents will be requested at a later date.
