Overview
With Endoscopy expanding its services, we have exciting opportunities for experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Endoscopy nurses wishing to develop their leadership skills as a permanent Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse on our Endoscopy unit. The opportunity would allow you to gain and develop experience in leadership whilst caring for patients undergoing Endoscopic procedures.
Responsibilities
* Demonstrate leadership and management skills in support of the unit manager, while communicating and coordinating with all team members and the wider multidisciplinary team.
* Be flexible in approach to respond to changing workload and support the unit manager in the management and leadership of the unit.
* Support and train new starters, junior and bank/agency staff, providing the clinical skills and expertise required for the unit.
* Deliver direct patient care while coordinating and overseeing nursing practice.
* Lead clinical activities during duty periods and ensure a high standard of patient care at all times.
* Regularly deputise for the unit manager in their absence, drive evidence-based practice, and supervise staff and the policies and practices within the clinical area.
* Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
About the Endoscopy Unit
The Endoscopy unit at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital consists of 5 purpose-built procedure rooms. The unit delivers the bowel cancer screening service alongside the diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy service to outpatients and inpatients. We are a training unit, training both medical staff and nurse endoscopists, and are committed to supporting ongoing professional development.
On-Call and Working Pattern
Registered nurses on the unit have an obligation to participate in an out-of-hours on-call service for emergencies following training. When on call, nurses are expected to attend within one hour of call-out. The Endoscopy unit is now providing a 7-day working service.
Team and Collaboration
Join a motivated and friendly team committed to providing a high-quality, patient-centered Endoscopy service. The team works closely with Gastroenterologists, Colorectal surgeons, Nurse Endoscopists, clinical nurse specialists and other members of the multidisciplinary team. The unit collaborates with the Research and Innovation Team as it is involved in many clinical trials.
