Junior Commercial Accountant (Part-Qualified)PermanentNewport Pagnell (2 days a week in the office, 3 days remote)Salary: £28,000 - £35,000Skills: Budgeting & Forecasting, Accruals, Management & Commercial Accounting and ExcelWe are looking for a Junior Commercial Accountant to join a growing finance team and support the commercial performance of the business. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified or studying accountant who is looking to develop their career in commercial and project accounting within a supportive environment.Reporting to the Senior Commercial Accountant, you will gain hands-on exposure across budgets, forecasting, margins, accruals, management accounts, and project finance, working closely with delivery and client-facing teams.What You'll Be DoingSupporting the financial management of projects and clients, including budgets, forecasts, margin analysis, and accrualsAssisting with the preparation and review of management accounts, including revenue, cost of sales, gross margin, and variance analysisSupporting the preparation, uploading, and maintenance of budgets and rolling forecastsAssisting with monthly accruals and prepayments, ensuring costs and revenues are recognised accuratelyWorking with project teams to ensure invoicing schedules are accurate and up to dateRaising and checking invoices and credit notesHelping to prepare project performance reports and financial metrics for senior stakeholdersSupporting month-end close activities, including posting journals and reconciling nominal accountsAssisting with year-end accounting activities and audit preparationSupporting continuous improvement of finance processes and controlsProviding ad-hoc financial support and analysis as requiredThis role is ideal for someone who:Is early in their finance career and looking to progress into a Commercial or Management Accountant roleWants hands-on exposure to commercial finance, margins, forecasting, and project performanceEnjoys working with both finance and non-finance stakeholdersIs studying or planning to study a professional accounting qualificationEssentialExperience in a finance or accounts role (e.g. Finance Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant)Exposure to budgets, forecasting, margin analysis, and accrualsUnderstanding of management accounts, including revenue, cost of sales, and gross marginExperience supporting month-end processes, including journals and reconciliationsStrong Excel skills and confidence working with spreadsheetsGood attention to detail and a proactive approachAbility to manage deadlines and prioritise workloadStrong communication skills and ability to build effective working relationshipsDesirableExperience in project or commercial accountingExposure to cost/profit centre reportingExperience in an SME or fast-paced commercial environmentExposure to multi-currency transactionsQualificationsGCSEs (or equivalent), including MathsAAT part-qualified / qualified or studying towards CIMA (or similar)TPBN1_UKTJ
