Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH Focus (Primary) Location: Hove Salary: £90 - £110 per day (Depending on experience) Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time Are you passionate about supporting young learners who face challenges beyond the classroom? If so, GSL Education seeks a caring SEN Teaching Assistant with a focus on Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to join a primary school in Hove. As a SEN TA, you will provide tailored support to primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs, helping them regulate emotions, re-engage with learning, and develop confidence in a nurturing environment. Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEMH needs. Build trusted relationships to help pupils feel safe, supported, and understood. Use positive behaviour management strategies to reduce anxieties and promote engagement. Support the class teacher in delivering lessons that meet individual needs. Assist in implementing behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies. Monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback to staff and parents/carers. Requirements: Experience supporting children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour. Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and resilience. A calm, non-judgemental approach and the ability to de-escalate situations. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies.
