Senior Subcontract Manager
Location: Luton
Contract Duration: 12 months
Pay Rate: Up to £85 per hour (inside IR35)
Security Clearance: Due to the nature of the work, a high level of UK security clearance is required. Please only apply if suitable.
Responsibilities:
* Lead sub-contract management activities and procurement services as required by the business.
* Manage relationships with strategic suppliers, conduct supplier reviews, and oversee performance, risks, and impacts.
* Provide leadership in business winning and program delivery with minimal supervision.
* Oversee procurement activities within the Procurement & Development IPTs.
* Negotiate complex agreements and risk/reward mechanisms for business cases.
* Translate customer and project requirements into commercial documents, especially for complex electronic systems and sub-systems.
* Mitigate risks associated with commercial agreements.
* Develop and negotiate contracts for services and deliverables.
* Collaborate across functions to ensure contractual compliance and risk mitigation.
* Foster customer relationships internally and externally.
* Handle project and supplier contract matters.
* Lead strategies influencing business decisions throughout project lifecycle.
* Identify solutions for risks and opportunities such as sub-contract risk, IPR, liability, and exchange rate exposure.
* Draft and review complex contract documents.
* Generate and review specifications and Statements of Work.
* Promote best practices and knowledge sharing.
* Manage the contract and supply chain lifecycle.
* Understand customer requirements and success factors.
* Manage export compliance, restrictions, and third-party rights.
* Operate as a subject matter expert within the function.
Experience Required:
* Technical training to degree level, professional qualification, or significant domain experience (MCIPS preferred).
* Strong collaboration, communication, planning, problem-solving, influencing, and decision-making skills.
* Knowledge of procurement within the Defence/Aerospace sector or similar.
* Relationship-building skills with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
* Understanding of commercial and legal aspects of contracting in the industry.
* Ability to think creatively and offer innovative solutions.
* Ability to influence cross-functional and cross-site teams.
