Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and conscientious individual to join us at an exciting time. We are about to start delivery of a new programme called Connect to Work, funded by the Department for Work and Pensions and delivered by the council. Connect to Work provides intensive support to people with disabilities and/or long-term health conditions or those who face other disadvantages to help them move into, or remain in, employment.
Responsibilities
* Be the first point of contact for many participants, handling phone calls, referral forms, emails and paperwork related to the Connect to Work programme.
* Communicate effectively over the phone, in person and in writing; take and respond to referrals; provide basic information about the programme; be sensitive to customers who may have communication challenges.
* Use a range of computer systems; learn and adapt to systems quickly; conduct data entry tasks accurately and efficiently while maintaining data security and confidentiality in line with the council policies and information governance requirements.
* Support the development of the Connect to Work programme and its processes; suggest improvements and be involved in delivering a service that makes a difference for local people.
* Handle a mix of tasks including dealing with customers, data handling, responding to enquiries, recording expenditure and petty cash; thrive in a busy office environment with multiple priorities.
Qualifications and attributes
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work calmly and professionally with diverse customers.
* Organised, conscientious and able to manage multiple tasks with varying priorities.
* Willingness to learn new computer systems and procedures; commitment to data protection and information governance.
* Experience in similar roles is advantageous but not essential.
