Job description We are currently looking for a Housekeeper to join the team in our rehabilitation unit in Stanmore and to work with healthcare staff and patients in the upkeep of the hospital. You will regularly seek feedback from patients and staff, and attend regular training, in order to continually improve the level of service offered Job Purpose To provide a housekeeping service for the unit. To clean and prepare areas of responsibility, following the required policies and procedures, including health and safety, and infection prevention and control, and to provide general assistance within the team. Duties and Responsibilities The washing, drying and storage of a wide range of equipment and utensils associated with a kitchen pot wash area. Cleaning duties within the allocated department of work and associated areas in accordance with the department cleaning schedule. Ensuring correct waste disposal procedures in accordance with Hospital policy. Assistance with Health, Safety, Hygiene and monitoring checks/audits. Engagement with all training programmes/courses relevant to the role. To observe Health and Safety and Food Hygiene Legislation, Trust policies and procedures at all times, reporting any faults, defects or operational issues to the line manager or Hospital Director Ensure that you wear the correct uniform provided and that it is clean and tidy. To carry out any other reasonable request of the Senior Management Team To provide a housekeeping service to the Hospital, working to schedules for cleaning and compliance to Health and safety and infection prevention and control as follows: To clean and prepare the areas of responsibility following the required policies and procedures, ensuring that the location is clean, tidy, hygienic, pleasant and safe for service users To use that appropriate cleaning products are used effectively, with instructions, and that health and safety and infection prevention and control procedures are followed at all times. To check on stock levels and reorder stock. To checks and reports on stock deliveries, sorting out or reporting any problems, and storing stock, following the correct guidelines To remove waste and dirty laundry in accordance with policies and procedures To correctly and safely prepare, use, clean and store equipment, tools and materials To makes full and proper use of any protective or safety equipment provided To reports any incidents which have led, or might have led to infection, following the required local incident reporting / recording procedure for infection prevention and control The role will involve regular weekend work as determined by the Hospital Director To report any other problems to the appropriate person / manager as quickly as possible WORKING ENVIRONMENT This role involves working with patients who may have histories of severe and enduring mental health difficulties, offending and interpersonal difficulties. The work therefore may involve working with service users in emotionally charged or hostile situations. To establish effective communication networks with service users, carers, team members, MDT colleagues and other partner and community agencies. To keep up-to-date paper and electronic records which are stored securely in accordance to Pathfinder Group PROFESSIONAL ETHICS To ensure self and others adhere to Pathfinder policies, codes of Professional Conduct and all other relevant national and local policies, standards and procedures. To undertake regular supervision with your line manager. SERVICE DEVELOPMENT AND DELIVERY To ensure that areas are well maintained and comply with health and safety guidelines, ensuring the safe use of equipment and storage of materials. To participate in the planning, delivery, evaluation and audit of practice, and protocols, including through use of service user feedback. To participate in the opportunities for service improvement, leading on delegated projects HEALTH, SAFETY AND SECURITY To ensure a safe working environment in which risk has been assessed and plans made to manage/prevent any identified risk. To be aware of and comply with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act. To comply with all other legislation relevant to Mental Health services and policies/procedures for the Pathfinder group. To ensure that staff comply with these requirements.
