The role
Salary: £78,000 - 78,000 per year Requirements: Strong background in software engineering, including software realisation and understanding of system-wide impact. Experience working in C++. Collaborative, open approach to development with the ability to work well in a team and maintain momentum during development. Experience working across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements engagement through to automated integration, proving, and documentation. Experience with new tools, techniques, and approaches that improve efficiency and sustainability. Experience in other languages such as Ada and Qt. Knowledge of DDS middleware and real-time operating systems. Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00-55, DO-178C, or IEC61508. Familiarity with restricted coding standards such as MISRA C. Ability to work onsite in Bristol four days per week, with a four-day working week considered. Experience supporting mission-critical or defence software systems is highly desirable. Responsibilities: We develop the latest mission-critical defence systems as part of our growing software team in Bristol. We work within a small team environment while also empowering individual contribution with little supervision. We engage with requirement authorities and support the full software development process. We carry software through automated target integration and proving activities. We produce and maintain effective documentation to support development and delivery. We explore and apply new tools, techniques, and approaches to improve our processes. We contribute to the development of mission-critical missile and missile systems software. We collaborate closely with team members to maintain momentum throughout development. Technologies: Ada Support Qt C++ More: We are a world leader in missile and missile systems, based in Bristol, developing mission-critical defence software within a growing and dynamic team. This is a 12-month subcontract opportunity with a very likely extension, and contracts are often ongoing and long-term thereafter. The role is inside IR35, offered at a rate of 65.00 per hour with overtime paid at time and a quarter for hours worked over the standard 37-hour week. We work onsite four days per week, and a four-day working week from Monday to Thursday is acceptable.
