Job Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Cover Supervisor to work within a dynamic secondary schools in the Staines and surounding areas, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of lessons in the absence of teaching staff. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates looking to gain experience in a classroom setting, develop their skills in education, and contribute to the academic success and well-being of students.
You will work closely with students and support staff, maintaining a positive and structured learning environment while ensuring that the lesson plans set by the absent teachers are effectively followed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise students during lessons, ensuring they remain on task and follow the instructions provided by the teacher.
2. Manage classroom behavior, ensuring a respectful and productive learning environment.
3. Assist with the setup of classroom resources and materials for lessons.
4. Support students with learning tasks, providing additional help where needed.
5. Ensure students adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding protocols.
6. Supervise students during break times and lunchtime, ensuring their safety and well-being.
7. Provide feedback to the teaching staff regarding students’ progress and behavior.
8. Liaise with the school leadership team to ensure any issues or concerns are reported in a timely and professional manner.
9. Occasionally support in administrative tasks as required.
Essential Skills and Experience:
10. Previous experience working with children or in a school environment is preferred but not essential.
11. Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage students effectively.
12. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
13. A proactive and flexible attitude, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
14. A passion for working with young people and supporting their educational development.
15. Knowledge of safeguarding practices in an educational setting is desirable.
Qualifications:
16. A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
17. Any relevant qualifications or experience in education (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Youth Work, or other related fields) would be an advantage.
