Rate: £580/day Inside IR35Duration: 6 monthsLocation: Mostly remote (Telford occasional onsite - 2 days/month)Clearance: SC Eligible
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Observability Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise-grade monitoring and observability solutions across complex technology environments. The role focuses on improving service visibility, performance insight, and proactive incident detection.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and implement end-to-end observability solutions across enterprise platforms
* Translate NFRs and monitoring requirements into Dynatrace configurations
* Deliver APM, log analytics, synthetic monitoring, and infrastructure observability
* Build and maintain dashboards, alerts, and performance visualisations
* Integrate observability into architecture, development, and delivery processes
* Support proactive incident management and service reliability improvements
* Collaborate with architects, engineers, and delivery teams across technical and non-technical groups
* Drive continuous improvement in monitoring maturity across teams
Required Skills & Experience
* Strong background in SRE principles and methodologies
* Hands-on experience with Dynatrace (mandatory)
* Strong understanding of APM tooling and enterprise observability
* Experience with logs, metrics, synthetics, and distributed system monitoring
* Ability to analyse and resolve complex technical issues
* Strong communication skills with ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
* Experience working in complex, enterprise-scale environments
Desirable
* Dynatrace Associate Certification
* Experience working in immature or evolving observability environments
* Exposure to large-scale transformation or cloud-native systems
