Compass Associates are working in partnership with a well-established and high-performing GP Practice in Oldham, as they seek to recruit an experienced and dynamic Practice Manager. This is a confidential vacancy, ideal for a forward-thinking leader with a proven background in primary care or healthcare operations.
The Role
As Practice Manager, you will lead on all aspects of operational delivery across the practice – ensuring excellent patient services, strong financial performance, effective staff management, and regulatory compliance. You’ll work alongside clinical partners to shape the strategic direction of the practice while maintaining a positive, collaborative culture.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role and would suit a confident, proactive manager who thrives on autonomy and has a passion for driving high standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Full operational responsibility for practice performance, staffing, compliance and patient access
* Financial and budgetary oversight including forecasting, reporting, and contract compliance (QOF, PCN DES, enhanced services)
* HR leadership: recruitment, training, appraisals, and employee relations
* Strategic development and business planning in collaboration with the Partners
* Oversight of CQC readiness and adherence to NHS contractual obligations
* Leading projects across clinical, digital, or service delivery areas
* Management of IT systems, premises, and facilities
* Engagement with external stakeholders including PCNs, ICBs, and other healthcare partners
Person Specification:
* Must have experience in Primary Care (PCN)
* Strong HR, financial and operational leadership experience
* Knowledge of NHS structures, QOF, CQC, and enhanced services
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and change management skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
* Ability to manage performance and develop high-performing teams
* AMSPAR, Leadership or Management qualification
* Familiarity with EMIS and PCN working
* Experience leading service change or transformation projects
Salary & Benefits:
