Business Development Manager
Permanent | Hybrid (Leicester-based)
£40,000 – £50,000 basic + 10% commission
An established and rapidly growing energy and utilities consultancy is expanding its corporate division and is now looking to appoint an experienced Corporate Business Development Manager.
This is a commercially focused role offering genuine ownership of client relationships, a strong support structure, and the opportunity to work with complex, high-value corporate energy portfolios. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving new revenue while strengthening long-term client partnerships.
The Role
This position sits at the heart of the business’s corporate growth strategy. You’ll be responsible for identifying new corporate opportunities, converting them into long-term clients, and managing a portfolio of existing accounts.
With internal teams supporting onboarding, reporting, and administration, your focus will be on client engagement, commercial strategy, and revenue growth rather than day-to-day processing.
What You’ll Be Doing
Identifying and securing new corporate clients using a consultative, relationship-led approach
Managing and developing a portfolio of established corporate customers
Leading strategic client conversations around energy procurement and utility services
Reviewing meter data, capacity (kVA), and operator arrangements for new accounts
Coordinating data collection and system integration with internal platforms
Working closely with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding and ongoing account support
Maintaining accurate CRM records and tracking all commercial activity
Producing meaningful client reports that demonstrate cost savings and performance improvements
Ensuring compliance with internal standards and client requirements What We’re Looking For
You’ll likely be someone who already operates comfortably in the corporate energy or utilities market and enjoys building long-term client relationships.
Background in B2B energy sales or corporate account management
Proven ability to win new business and manage a personal sales pipeline
Experience handling large energy portfolios (circa 1GW+)
Confident, professional communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
Comfortable working to targets in a performance-driven environment
Highly organised, self-sufficient, and commercially astute
Strong IT skills, including CRM and MS Office tools
Experience working with suppliers and third-party partners
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capability
Full UK driving licence (client visits required) Package & Benefits
