Ayr Housing Aid Centre SCIO are a registered Charity established in 1986 accredited to provide Type III Free, Independent Housing Information, Advice, Advocacy plus Care Inspectorate regulated Tenure Sustainment Services. We work with vulnerable service users with our main aim to alleviate poverty and delay/prevent homeless where possible while encouraging and empowering rights and responsibilities. This specific service helps anyone in housing need across South and East Ayrshire Council areas.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and organised individual to work alongside and assist our Senior Prison Housing Adviser in the day to day running of our Prison Housing Advice Service. The successful candidate will be based within HMP Kilmarnock Prison Link Centre with outreach to other prison locations as required. You will be required to complete various security and physical safety training to comply with specific Prison procedures.

The Prison Housing Adviser will provide free, accurate, housing information and advice to people in Prison. Applicants should have a commitment to continuous personal development to enhance knowledge and skills and experience managing a caseload.

The successful applicant should have experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and should demonstrate a commitment to advocating for people and facilitating access to vital resources. This experience will be instrumental in ensuring the successful reintegration of individuals into the community. The ideal candidate should demonstrate experience in supporting individuals with complex needs and barriers. An understanding of challenges faced by people in prison, mental health issues, substance abuse and trauma are required along with compassion and a non-judgemental approach.

You should have excellent IT and communication skills, including experience using various prison specific systems, maintaining accurate records, data and statistics input to ensure compliance with contract KPI and Scottish National and SHORE Standards.
