Offer description

BUOYANCY AEROSPACE is the next-generation European defence company delivering critical supply chain, manufacturing, and assembly solutions to the aerospace, space, and defence sectors. With integrated facilities in the UK and Germany, we serve leading OEMs and primes with a zero-defect, agile, and AI-enabled production capability across metallics, composites, and surface treatments. We are currently trusted partners on GCAP/Tempest and F-35, among other critical programmes, with a proven track record of quality and delivery performance.

Our Purpose

To meet the rising demand for solutions in aerospace, space, and defence supply chains, and in the design and manufacturing of critical components, by leveraging generative AI and the collaborative excellence of our people.

Our Mission

We deliver innovative, AI-driven solutions that meet our customers’ strategic objectives, in order to uphold and advance our shared values and freedoms.

Our Values

We operate with Purpose, Excellence, Innovation, and a distinctive Team Culture built on direct communication, personal ownership, and meritocratic accountability.

The Role

We are seeking a hands-on, commercially astute Finance Lead to own and lead all aspects of the Group’s financial operations and strategic planning. This is a leadership role reporting directly to the CEO. The mandate combines operational finance excellence with corporate-finance insight to support growth and performance across the UK and EU, while building the London headquarters of the group.

Key Accountabilities

* Managing and leading end-to-end finance operations, including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
* Preparing and presenting monthly P&L, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and KPI reports, including tactical and strategic recommendations, always with the big picture in mind.
* Leading the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning process across all entities, including financial models for forecasting, scenario analysis, and decision support.
* Defining and monitoring group-wide financial policies, controls, and reporting standards.
* Managing group liquidity, capital allocation, and funding strategy in coordination with the CEO and his leadership team.
* Supporting M&A, investment decisions, and commercial bid pricing with robust financial analysis and finance strategy.
* Driving process efficiency, automation, and control improvements across finance and operations, with quantified cost-out targets and weekly tracking.
* Ensuring compliance with regulatory, tax, and audit requirements in all jurisdictions.
* Liaising with auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other external partners.
* Swiss-army-knife mindset and execution: switching comfortably between hands-on tasks and strategic work in a high-growth, fast-changing environment.

Candidate Profile

* CIMA, ACCA, or ACA qualified.
* Strong technical skills in operational finance (P&L, balance sheets, cash flow management).
* Ability to translate granular finance findings into clear tactical and strategic recommendations for non-finance leaders.
* Competence in corporate finance concepts, including ROI, NPV, IRR, and valuation methods.
* Solid understanding of UK GAAP, VAT, PAYE, statutory compliance, and audit requirements.
* Proven financial modelling capability for budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis, and bid pricing, delivering decision-ready outputs for senior leadership.
* Leadership skills and ability to work independently, set priorities, and deliver to deadlines with full accountability.
* Strong commercial acumen and confidence in advising senior leadership and challenging assumptions where needed.
* Highest integrity and loyalty to the owner CEO.
* Comfortable switching between high level strategic work and hands-on execution; thrives amid ambiguity and rapid change.
* Experience in multi-entity or cross-border finance management (UK & Germany).
* M&A process experience, including DDs, financing, SPA terms, and PMIs.
* Knowledge of aerospace, defence, or advanced manufacturing sectors.
* Familiarity with ITAR, NIST, or similar compliance environments.
* Basic understanding of German accounting standards (HGB) and transfer-pricing mechanics.
* German language skills and/or other relevant European language

The aerospace, space, and defence sector is undergoing a historic shift. As governments and primes across Europe re-evaluate supply chain resilience and strategic autonomy, the time to act is now. At BUOYANCY AEROSPACE, we anticipated this moment long before the market. With fully operational sites in both the UK and Germany, we built our footprint early, ensuring our ability to serve cross-border programmes with scale, agility, and geopolitical stability.

Our ambitions are bold. We’ve recently unlocked new capacity through targeted investments and efficiency gains. Our facilities are digitised, our teams are performing, and we are actively onboarding new selected prime customers.

We know every company claims to be different. We don’t say it, we prove it. We are already delivering on strategic programmes like F-35 and GCAP. We move fast, operate with discipline, and reward performance of team players in a culture of innovation and meritocracy. Our governance is clear, our standards are high, and our decision-making is immediate.

Note: There are roles in the market that offer less responsibility and lower demands for a similar, or even higher salary. We are not one of them. We attract a certain kind of team member who thrives in a high-performance, high-accountability culture where outcomes matter more than comfort.

Compensation and Location

This role offers a competitive salary and is based in London, with a 4 days per week in-office policy. Travel requirements to our factories, customers, and other stakeholders vary with business needs, sometimes minimal, sometimes intensive, and the candidate must be fully open to it.

Application Process

Our people are exceptional, purpose driven, and the foundation of our success. We will never compromise on our standards of recruitment. Therefore, all shortlisted candidates will undergo a multi-stage interview process, including:

* Reference checks and verification of professional qualifications.
* Review of previous financial modelling and reporting work.
* Written Problem Solving Test.
* Multiple interviews assessing alignment to our values, pace, and culture.
