Group is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Transportation Engineer to join our successful team in Birmingham. In this role, you'll lead the design and delivery of impactful roadway projects, applying your expertise in geometric design, drainage, traffic control, and pavement systems. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and engage with clients and stakeholders to bring innovative, community-focused transportation solutions to life. Responsibilities:
1. Develop and execute roadway design projects, including geometric design, drainage systems, and pavement design.
2. Create and implement traffic control plans to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow during construction phases.
3. Perform engineering calculations and analyses to support project designs and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
4. Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects.
5. Conduct site visits and field investigations to gather data and assess existing conditions.
6. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including traffic engineers, environmental specialists, and construction managers.
7. Assist in the preparation of proposals, reports, and technical presentations for clients and stakeholders.
8. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on project-related tasks.
9. Ensure quality control and adherence to project schedules and budgets.
10. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in transportation engineering.
11. Participate in public meetings and stakeholder consultations to present project information and address concerns.
12. Assist in obtaining necessary permits and approvals from regulatory agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
* BA/BS in Civil Engineering or related field.
* Four years of related transportation engineering experience or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Alabama Professional Engineer License or ability to obtain within six months.
* Experience with transportation/civil infrastructure design and calculations.
* Experience designing roadways for transportation projects.
* Proficiency with OpenRoads for conceptual and detailed design, including 3D modeling.
* Effective communication skills in a professional environment.
