Salary: Up to £41,956 + £5,000 market premia + £2,000 annual retention payment (after 1 year’s service)
We are recruiting for a Social Worker to join the Children in Care Team at Medway Council. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of looked after children, ensuring they receive the care, stability and support they need.
The Role:
1. Manage a caseload of looked after children, completing assessments, SMART care plans and reviews with clear outcomes.
2. Undertake direct work with children and young people to capture their lived experiences, wishes and feelings.
3. Use the Signs of Safety practice model in assessments and interventions with children, families and carers.
4. Contribute to permanence planning, including adoption and other long-term outcomes.
5. Prepare high-quality reports for Looked After Children Reviews, Permanency Planning Meetings, Legal Planning Meetings and court proceedings.
6. Build strong relationships with children and families, applying strengths-based and relationship-based practice.
7. Maintain accurate records in line with GDPR and Medway systems.
8. Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure children are kept safe and supported.
About You:
9. Qualified Social Worker with successful completion of the ASYE year.
10. Registered with Social Work England.
11. Experience in statutory children’s services, including child protection, looked after children and court work.
12. Knowledge of permanence planning and experience supporting children through adoption and long-term placements.
13. Strong assessment, communication and report-writing skills.
14. Car driver with daily business use.
