The Adult Community Speech & Language Therapy Team has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Band 6 Therapist to join our friendly and supportive team in a 3-day per week permanent position, based in beautiful South Devon, with easy access to beaches and moors.
We are an innovative and motivated team within a supportive and collaborative environment that offers:
1. An opportunity to work with a varied caseload, including Parkinson’s Disease, dementia, stroke, and MND.
2. Access to instrumental swallowing assessment, particularly through our well-developed FEES service.
3. 1:1 regular management supervision.
4. Access to clinical supervision, both 1:1 and in peer groups.
5. Joint working and second opinions with clinical specialists.
6. Regular CPD opportunities.
7. Requirement for a car owner/driver and a current driving licence, or full access to a car for work purposes (unless disabled as defined by the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and 2005).
8. Responsibility for triaging referrals to the Community Adult Speech and Language Therapy service alongside colleagues.
9. Independently managing a caseload of community patients with complex speech, language, communication, and swallowing (dysphagia) difficulties, based on theory, research, and best practice.
10. Prioritising and responding to referrals, allocating cases to less experienced colleagues, exercising professional judgement.
11. Providing services to hospitals, nursing and residential homes, and patients' homes, using own car for travel between locations.
12. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social services, and dietitians.
13. Weekend and home working may be required to meet service needs.
