Role: Structural Design Engineer
Wykes Engineering seeks a skilled Structural Design Engineer to join our Engineering Department. In this role, you will design industrial steel structures for internal and external projects, applying expertise in structural design and a strong foundation in mechanical engineering.
Key Responsibilities
* Proven experience in structural design of steel‑framed structures.
* Provide technical support during construction, resolve design issues, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
* Review shop drawings, assist with design modifications, and support project coordination.
* Solid understanding of relevant design codes and standards (e.g. BS EN).
* Ability to produce accurate structural calculations and detailed design drawings.
* Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication skills for collaboration with engineers, contractors, and project teams.
Essential Experience
* Familiarity with mechanical engineering principles and multidisciplinary projects.
* Knowledge of fabrication and erection processes for steel structures.
* Experience with 3D modeling tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
* Exposure to project coordination and reviewing shop drawings.
* Understanding of health and safety regulations in construction environments.
* Previous involvement in industrial or heavy engineering projects.
