About the role
We are seeking an experienced professional to join North Northamptonshire Council as a Principal Transport Planner (Strategy). This role, within the Highways service of our Place & Economy directorate, is a key part of our Transport Strategy team. You will collaborate with public and sustainable transport officers to develop policies, strategies, and investment schemes to meet the Council's aspirations for improved transport facilities amid a climate emergency.
What will you be doing?
You will lead the development of North Northamptonshire’s first Local Transport Plan and other transport strategies and programmes. Your role will include providing expert transport advice to support Local Plan preparations and developing highway and transport improvement schemes to shape the region’s future.
About you
Applicants should be educated to degree level or equivalent, with significant experience in transport planning or policy, especially in strategy development and public consultation. Strong project and programme management skills, experience in partnership working, and familiarity with Local Transport Plans, Local Plans, or transport scheme management are desirable.
