Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 3 Nursing Support Worker post in the Gynaecology outpatients department in Aberystwyth.

Working under delegation and supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Nursing Support Worker will undertake the defined responsibilities appropriate to the role in the workplace setting. Complying with Health Board policies, protocols and guidelines they will ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

No statutory nursing or midwifery qualifications are required but you should demonstrate a caring attitude and have excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

This post requires the post holder to be able to support on other sites within the Health Board as required.

Daily tasks to include chaperoning, decontaminating equipment, providing support to patients undergoing procedures.

Working as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

To undertake delegated tasks in relation to the clinical environment in accordance with the Health Board policies and procedures in order to maintain high standards of patient care.

Preparation of the clinical environment, this includes ensuring equipment is appropriately cleaned and decontaminated and fit for purpose.

To be aware of patients physical, social and psychological needs and be able to report concerns to a registered nurse.

Undertake a range of procedures relevant to the clinical sphere of responsibility and within limits of competence.

To support the collection and documentation of information relating to the patients condition.

To support the registered nurses in the delivery of the Healthcare Standards.

All employees of the Health Board are required to maintain the confidentiality of members of the public and patients, service users and members of staff in accordance with Health Board policies. This confidentiality of information applies during working and non-working hours.

Ensure stock rotation and restocking clinical areas as necessary.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.

* Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
* Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
* 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
* Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services
