Job Description
South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership is offering an exciting opportunity for a visionary and experienced leader to join our senior management team. This role will play a pivotal part shaping the strategic direction and ensuring the effective operational delivery of children's health care and justice services.
Building on the achievements and successes of the Health and Social Care Partnership – one of the first established in Scotland – this role will make a real and lasting difference to integrated health and social care service delivery for people and places across South Ayrshire.

The Head of Children's Health, Care and Justice will play a vital role in realising this vision by ensuring the delivery of equitable, high‑quality, seamless and person‑centred care, placing patients, service users and carers right at the heart of everything we do.
Key Responsibilities
* Shape the strategic direction and deliver on the effective operational delivery of children’s health care and justice services.
* Lead and inspire a senior team, demonstrating exceptional political awareness and proven track record of successfully effecting change and continually improving services.
* Transform services, develop partnership working, manage people and budgets within a large organisation – preferably within local government, NHS or wider public sector.
* Hold responsibility for a £28 million budget and oversee approximately 470 staff (WTE) across a wide range of social work and NHS services.
* Ensure the provision of integrated, accessible and person‑centred services tailored to the needs of the community.
Qualifications and Experience
* Senior leadership experience with significant and consistent achievement at the managerial level.
* Proven track record of effecting organisational change, improving services and establishing high‑performing cultures.
* Strong background in service transformation, partnership working and budget stewardship.
* Experience leading large, diverse teams and managing substantial budgets (£28 million).
* Political awareness and commitment to inclusive, equitable service delivery.
Terms & Conditions
This is a full‑time, permanent position. The successful candidate will have the option of being appointed on the terms and conditions of either NHS Ayrshire and Arran or South Ayrshire Council, including salary.
For South Ayrshire Council terms and conditions – the Grade of this post is Chief Officer 33 and the annual salary is £105,966.
For NHS terms and conditions – the Grade of this post is Executive Band D Band 8D and the annual salary is from £103,764 to £108,206 based on a 37 hour working week.
Work Style
Hybrid Worker: The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly between home and the office, with the frequency of office attendance varying according to service exigencies.
