Overview
Applications are invited for a Registrar / LAS SpR / Speciality Doctor / StR4+ in Paediatric Radiology. The post will commence as soon as possible (ASAP). This post offers the opportunity to develop general registrar level skills and possibly more advanced skills for those interested and those doctors with the appropriate experience to do so. Skilled Worker / Tier 2 visa sponsorship is available (if required). Applications from doctors who require Skilled Worker / Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK will be considered, with the relevant paperwork issued to the successful applicant if required.
Responsibilities
* Appropriate clinical responsibility for the care of patients delegated by the consultant to his/her charge, and co-responsibility for the proper functioning of the Paediatric Radiology department, including supervision of more junior medical staff.
* Participation in the Registrar on-call rota and to provide cover in exceptional circumstances for colleagues’ absence.
* Attend clinics, assess patients and formulate treatment decisions, seeking advice from the consultant as appropriate.
* Attend sessions with the consultant and assist or perform procedures as appropriate.
* Run wards with consultant cover on site during the day and consultant off site after hours.
* Participation in clinical audit and attendance at clinical meetings and case conferences as appropriate.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to teaching and training of staff in other medical disciplines, nursing and support staff as appropriate.
* Communicate effectively with other team members and coordinate medical disciplines involved in care, including communication with GPs and community agencies.
* Assess, care for and treat patients presenting acutely to the specialty and referred to the specialty.
* Conduct daily ward rounds on inpatients under the consultant’s care, supervising junior doctors.
* Develop and implement integrated Paediatric Radiology pathways throughout the hospital / trust in conjunction with admitting clinical teams and the wider health economy.
* Participation in relevant audit and quality assurance procedures; abide by clinical and corporate governance policies of the hospital/trust; ensure GMC Good Medical Practice is at the heart of clinical practice.
* Keep up to date with Paediatric Radiology knowledge through Continuous Medical Education and personal development.
* Be flexible to meet the needs of the department and patient care as decided by the general manager and clinical lead for Paediatric Radiology; contribute to wider corporate and organisational needs of the hospital / trust as appropriate.
* Adhere to hospital / trust procedures (e.g., Health and Safety at Work, Equal Opportunities) and work to the hospital/trust values: Put Patients First, Take Ownership, Respect Others, Be Positive.
* Maintain personal and professional development to meet changing needs of the job; attend mandatory training; respect confidentiality; comply with the Data Protection Act 1998.
Job Plan
To be discussed with the Clinical Lead of Radiology Services and departmental service manager; all job plans are made with the agreement of the doctor and in alignment with the needs of the Radiology department.
Salary
The salary is based on the national salary scale as outlined in the Medical and Dental Terms and Conditions – £59,175 - £95,400 per annum, not inclusive of extra hours; overtime is paid in addition to basic salary.
Personal & Professional Development
The post-holder will be required to stay up-to-date with their area of practice and demonstrate this to the satisfaction of the hospital / trust / GMC. The trust supports continuing professional development and provides time and financial support for these activities, including GMC revalidation.
Study Leave
Professional or study leave is granted for purposes approved by the trust and includes time off for study, research, teaching, examinations, attendance at external clinics, and attending professional conferences. Study leave allowance is a maximum of 10 days per annum.
Essential Requirements
* GMC Registration Essential (General Medical Council) – guidance available if needed
* Ability to cope with a varying workload
* IELTS or OET for IMG’s (IELTS overall score 7.5 or OET Grade B)
