General Purpose of the Position: Responsible for executing automated weld overlay and corrosion-resistant cladding operations in field environments using specialized welding systems. This role ensures the delivery of high-integrity weld applications on critical equipment components, in full compliance with IGS standards and client specifications. In client project settings, the Weld Operator Welding Services position reports directly to the designated Team Leader or Project Superintendent. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up and operate automated welding and cladding systems on-site. Perform overlay welds using assigned processes, including wire/arc, GMAW, SMAW, and GTAW. Follow approved welding procedures, parameters, and adhere to QA/QC standards. Conduct surface preparation (arc gouging, grinding) and perform visual inspections. Participate in equipment mobilization, demobilization, and system maintenance. Assist with mechanical assembly and disassembly of welding equipment. Comply with all HSE, SOP, and PPE safety requirements at all times. Collaborate with inspection and quality teams to achieve client acceptance. Support welding and repair activities during revamps, shutdowns, or turnaround projects. Maintain professional conduct and represent IGS standards at customer sites. Identify unsafe work conditions and take immediate action to correct them or notify appropriate personnel to ensure workplace safety Education and Experience Required: Secondary technical education or vocational training, preferably with a focus on welding. Valid SCC certification or equivalent site safety training (an asset). G1/G2 and welding process qualifications (111, 136/138, 141, etc.) considered an advantage. Minimum of two years’ experience in welding or automated overlay operations. Experience in field-based welding, preferably in power generation or refinery environments. Skills and Abilities Proficient with automated welding platforms (e.g., Encompass, Weldclad, Fronius). Able to interpret WPS, technical drawings, isometrics, and inspection reports. Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Comfortable with setting digital welding parameters and using real-time monitoring tools. Fluency in spoken and written English is an asset. Strong knowledge of HSE standards and site-specific hazard mitigation. Personal Attributes Strong attention to detail and commitment to weld quality. Team-oriented with effective communication skills and adaptability Effort/Working Conditions: Work is performed in challenging environments, including refineries, power plants, and industrial sites across Europe and internationally. Standard work schedule consists of long hours, typically 12-hour shifts. Duties often require wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE), and working in confined spaces and at heights. Must be physically capable of navigating industrial work sites and meeting all health and safety entry requirements.
