Overview
To be responsible for delivering an Estates site service which complies with NHS guidelines, Health Technical Memorandum, Health Building Notes and all mandatory and statutory requirements. Lead and manage Estates Engineering services, plant, buildings and staff to ensure safe, compliant and cost-effective Trust operations. Act as Authorised Person (AP) for relevant HTM/HSE systems, maintaining full statutory and regulatory compliance, and provide senior operational cover for Building and Engineering Manager roles, including emergency and on-call response.
Responsibilities
* Manage all planned, statutory and reactive maintenance, ensuring in-house teams and contractors meet required standards, specifications and timescales.
* Lead capital works and minor projects from design input and tendering through to contractor supervision, delivery and quality assurance.
* Oversee contractor control, permits to work and all H&S compliance.
* Head the Engineering function, including recruitment, performance management, training, discipline and development of staff and apprentices.
* Hold delegated budget responsibility, ensuring strong financial control, best-value procurement and accurate cost recovery.
* Maintain and develop estates systems including PPM, BMS, asset databases and performance benchmarking.
* Complete estate condition surveys and inspections to support short-, medium- and long-term maintenance and investment planning.
* Ensure compliance with Trust, NHS and statutory requirements, including Health & Safety, DDA, Infection Control and Sustainability.
* Collaborate with clinical teams, senior managers, NHS partners and external stakeholders to minimise disruption and maintain patient safety.
