We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Registered Learning Disability or Mental Health Nurses to join our evolving Assessment and Treatment in-patient unit at Townend Court.
The successful applicant will work under a new leadership team and join a team of skilled nurses and healthcare assistants who have patient care and Humber Trust values at the core of their practice. Learning Disability services have been changing and continue to evolve to meet the clinical demands of a modern inpatient facility and we are looking for the right candidates to join this team.
The successful candidates will be valued members of a multi-disciplinary team and have the opportunity to develop their own skills in working with patients with complex and challenging needs to achieve measurable and genuine outcomes that are life enhancing for them. The posts offer an excellent and exciting opportunity to develop clinical leadership expertise and will allow scope for personal and professional development within a friendly and supported environment. You will have a good knowledge of current policy drivers and be able to implement research into practice .
There is an expectation that the successful candidate will work flexibly across the Learning Disability Service supporting the Intensive Support team when required. There may also be the opportunity to work on a rotational basis with the Intensive Support team.
Main duties of the job
Main duties will consist of:
* Leading the shift / delegating tasks
* Managing a caseload.
* Undertaking Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest Meetings.
* Delivering personal cares to patients
* Administration of medication - oral and IM.
* Supporting patients to access leave
* Dealing with potential and actual conflict situations which may include the use of trust approved DMI techniques
* Undertaking basic physical observations (NEWS2) and supportive engagements of patients.
* Day to day management of the ward
* Undertaking supervision with Healthcare Assistants.

Person Specification
qualifications and knoweldge
* Part III or 13 of NMC live register
* Nursing Degree in Learning Disabilities or Mental Health Nursing
* A broad understanding of relevant policy drivers and their impact on clinical practice, e.g. NSF/Valuing People, Winterbourne and Francis
* An understanding of relevant clinical practice/standards within an identified clinical area
Experience
* Understanding of caseload management responsibilities
* Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area at specialist level of care
skills and competenices
* Effective time management
