Engineering Manager – Mechanical, Estates Maintenance Team
Location: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital
Contract: Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hours per week – Mon‑Fri 8:00‑16:00)
Salary: £50,580 – £55,903 per annum + £3,328 On‑Call Allowance + £2,000 Authorised Person Allowance
About the Role
As Engineering Manager in our Estates Maintenance Team, you will ensure safe, reliable and efficient mechanical services that support patient care and clinical operations. You will lead a team of 37 staff across ventilation, water management, medical gas, decontamination, boilers, steam raising, hydrotherapy and more.
Responsibilities
* Oversee safe and efficient maintenance of mechanical systems, infrastructure, plant and equipment across the hospital estate.
* Ensure compliance with legislation, standards and guidance.
* Drive team and department performance and development.
* Act as key point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders.
* Promote a zero‑tolerance Health & Safety culture.
* Carry out document review of policies, procedures, method statements, risk assessments and scopes of work.
* Perform Authorised Person duties in at least one discipline (e.g., Water, Ventilation).
* Lead and manage lifecycle projects and small works.
Qualifications
* Recognised Engineering or Mechanical Apprenticeship and relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds or BTEC.
* Experience in building or mechanical services within a similar environment.
* Strong leadership skills capable of motivating a diverse team.
* Confidence interpreting standards, guidance and compliance requirements in mechanical engineering.
* Proactive, customer‑focused approach with excellent communication skills.
