About the Role:
Are you passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and playing a key role in bringing events and cultural activities to life in Derby? We're looking for an enthusiastic and organised Business, Events and Operations Assistant to support the delivery of an exciting and growing programme of events and activities across the city.
You'll work closely with local communities, internal teams, and event organisers to ensure the smooth running of events and the effective use of our leisure and cultural spaces. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys variety in their work, and is committed to delivering excellent customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
* Act as the first point of contact for event, space hire, and leisure enquiries, offering friendly and professional service across all communication channels
* Support the coordination, bookings, and promotion of events and space hire across Derby's cultural venues
* Process bookings, payments, and contracts using relevant software systems, ensuring accurate records and invoicing
* Promote Derby's cultural and leisure services, optimising sales opportunities and building strong customer relationships
* Update websites and social media with event listings and assist with marketing activities and data collection
* Support the organisation and delivery of events, including set-up, health & safety checks, and on-site coordination, including working evenings, weekends, and bank holidays when required
* Assist with the administration of city-centre activity including road closures, street trading, and public space licensing
* Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming public areas within our venues and support with restocking and minor cleaning tasks
* Carry out venue opening/closing duties and routine health and safety inspections
What We're Looking For:
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks
* Experience in customer service, event support, or venue operations is desirable
* Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
* Flexible and willing to work varied hours across different locations
* Confident using digital tools and software systems for bookings, invoicing, and communications
