Trust Doctor (ST3) in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Critical Care
Intermediate Training Level
Following changes to the North East London School of Anaesthesia training programme, we are now able to offer a few short-term fellowships in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and critical care. These posts would be suitable for individuals aiming to complete the CESR in anaesthesia or who want to increase their experience in cardiothoracic anaesthesia.
Successful candidates will be required to have undergone extensive basic training in anaesthesia (equivalent to core anaesthetic training in the UK) and ideally have some experience at specialist registrar level. They should have the Primary FRCA or equivalent as a minimum but would not be expected to have undertaken any cardiothoracic training prior to joining the department.
The workload will be split between time spent in the cardiothoracic critical care units, operating theatres, and cath labs. It will involve all aspects of perioperative care of the cardiothoracic surgical and cardiology patients.
On-call commitment would be as a resident on one of the two CICUs, working as part of a full shift, 9-person rota compliant with both EWTD and the 2016 UK junior doctor contract guidelines.
These fellows will be appointed to the anaesthetic department and will be accountable to the clinical director of the department. Clinical and educational supervisors will be allocated upon commencement of the job. Full GMC registration with a license to practice is required.
