Honda Racing Corporation UK Limited (HRC-UK) plays a vital role in race maintenance and preparation of Honda-built Formula 1 (F1) power units (PU's). The organisation also handles logistics for the European region and supports the delivery of F1 public relations strategies. HRC-UK was established to enhance Honda's PU operations and strengthen its partnership with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team starting in the 2026 F1 season. Located in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, HRC-UK is a crucial part of Honda's motorsport operations.
Role Overview
This is a full-time, hybrid role for a Finance Department Manager, located within commuting distance of Milton Keynes. We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to manage the Finance Operations and take responsibility for accounting; reporting; tax; compliance; treasury; planning and budgeting, together with finance business partnering. This role will also be responsible for the line management and development of a direct report, along with the development of processes and enhancement of controls.
It is highly desirable, if the candidate has previous knowledge of the various reporting requirements and financial regulations of F1, as mandated by the FIA or prior experience of working within F1 and managing a Cost Cap.
Main Responsibilities:
Accounting:
Monitor and lead transactional processing, of which the majority will be AP, ensuring tasks are carried out in an accurate and timely manner.
Monitor and lead the delivery of statutory accounts in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with IFRS requirements.
Lead the internal and external audit processes.
Liaise with relevant third parties such as HMRC; banks; auditors; tax consultants; etc.
Ensure the Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss statement and Cashflow statement are reconciled and controlled each month.
Reporting:
Deliver Group reporting on time and in an accurate manner.
Ensure all other external reporting is executed in an accurate and timely manner.
Ensure internal management reporting is delivered in an accurate, relevant, and timely manner, in order to support senior management in the stewardship of the company.
Working with HRC-Japan and the finance departments in the European headquarters, prepare and submit financial statements in accordance with the financial regulations of F1 PU Manufacturers.
Compliance:
Regular reviews of the control environment to ensure the business is compliant with internal and external requirements. This will include developing a financial risk assessment framework.
Ensure all financial transactions are recorded in a compliant and accurate manner.
Ensuring budgetary controls are in place for operating cost, investment, headcount, and liquidity.
Ensure appropriate approval levels are in place for financial transactions and commitments.
Ensure accurate and timely information is provided to Honda Accounts/Accounting teams.
Ensure company assets and property are adequately recorded, controlled and safeguarded.
Treasury & Liquidity:
Ensure monthly liquidity forecasts are prepared and presented to senior management.
Ensure payments to suppliers are made in an accurate and timely manner.
Link liquidity requirements with investment planning and therefore plan for loan finance accordingly.
Taxation:
Ensure corporation tax compliance and provisioning is delivered in an accurate and timely manner.
Ensure VAT and PAYE returns and payments are delivered in an accurate and timely manner.
Ensure accurate record keeping to support PSA returns.
Budgeting, Planning & Forecasting:
Deliver timely and accurate budgets, forecasts and 5-year plans which are aligned to the technical and business strategies.
Ensure budgetary compliance is delivered through the provision of effective finance business partnering and controls.
Deliver meaningful and relevant financial insights to senior management regarding performance against financial targets.
Plus, any other tasks as reasonably required by the Company.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified.
Significant experience of holding a similar position in a fast-paced engineering business, ideally motorsport, automotive or aerospace.
A comprehensive understanding of IFRS.
Experience of building an effective and sustainable finance team.
Excellent, pragmatic problem-solving skills.
A collaborative working style, with the ability to understand and empathize with the business challenges, whilst at the same time deliver financial and budgetary control and compliance.
Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment with global collaboration.
Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills, including clear communication and presentation of complex financial matters to senior non-financial stakeholders.
