Team Manager - Levels of Need – Qualified Social Worker
Location: Merseyside (Easily commutable from across the North West)
Pay Rate: £50 per hour

Are you a Qualified Social Work Manager with a passion for protecting vulnerable children and leading high-performing teams? We’re looking for an experienced and compassionate Team Manager to lead a small, dedicated social work team triaging referrals in line with the Local Authority’s Children’s Services Levels of Need. This is a vital role requiring deep knowledge of child protection, permanence planning, and the impact of trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on children. You’ll help ensure timely and proportionate responses to referrals that enable children and families to thrive.
️ What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Leading and supervising a social work team focused on early intervention and triage
2. Applying expert knowledge of child protection legislation and social care frameworks
3. Using evidence-based approaches to assess need and risk, ensuring appropriate responses
4. Supporting front-line staff in delivering trauma-informed and person-centred services
5. Collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to safeguard children and promote stability
6. Monitoring quality of work and ensuring timely decision-making for referrals
7. Developing tailored care plans that empower children and families
What We’re Looking For:
8. Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
9. Minimum 4 years post-qualification experience, with recent leadership exposure
10. Background in child protection, permanence, or similar frontline teams
11. In-depth knowledge of ACEs, trauma, and the impact of separation from birth families
12. Ability to build rapport and engage families in meaningful intervention
13. Skilled in risk assessment, case planning, and working in multi-agency settings
14. A positive, proactive, and flexible manager who champions best practice
15. Strong communication, mediation, and organisational skills
16. Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance
