About the Trust
Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides high quality, accessible and responsive community and specialist services within Birmingham and the West Midlands. We deliver over 100 clinical services out in people’s homes and in more than 300 hospitals, health centres and clinics for adults, children, people with learning disabilities, rehabilitation needs and dental services.
The post holder will work with other Consultant Psychiatrists and integrated multidisciplinary teams to meet the specialist healthcare needs of a population of approximately 1.1 million.
Responsibilities
* Senior psychiatric input and clinical leadership for the locality multidisciplinary team, ensuring the service delivers safe and effective care acceptable to patients and carers.
* Supervision of psychiatric medical staff working within the Learning Disability Service, including the Specialist Doctor in the West Locality.
* Undertake teaching and educational initiatives to develop skills of the local multidisciplinary team and the wider Learning Disability Service.
* Interface with neurology and other health services where needed to facilitate access of service users into services that provide the most appropriate care for people with intellectual disabilities.
* Senior interface with other community mental health services to ensure optimum psychiatric services for service users.
* Liaison with children’s services to optimise transition of children into adult services.
* Maintain and develop professional competencies using the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ monitored Personal Development Plan.
* Support and participate in Clinical Governance and Audit.
* Comply with all Trust policies, including Equal Opportunities policies, and promote equality of access to healthcare at all times.
* Participate in the consultant out‑of‑hours on‑call rota and reciprocal cover arrangements for annual and study leave.
* Utilise the electronic patient records system to maintain clinical records, clinical coding, outcomes and activity.
