Position Summary
The Soft Play Assistant is responsible for supervising and supporting children and families in the pub's soft play area, ensuring a fun, safe, and welcoming environment. They will help with safety checks, cleaning, customer service, and engaging positively with children and parents.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise children in the soft play area to ensure safe play.
* Greet and assist parents/guardians, explaining rules and procedures.
* Carry out regular safety checks of equipment and play surfaces.
* Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards, including cleaning tables, floors, and play equipment.
* Report any hazards, maintenance issues, or incidents promptly.
* Support the pub team by assisting with birthday parties and group bookings.
* Encourage positive play, resolving minor disputes between children where needed.
* Ensure safeguarding and health & safety policies are always followed.
* Work with the wider pub team to provide excellent customer service.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Friendly, approachable, and confident in working with children.
* Good communication and people skills (both with children and adults).
* Reliable, punctual, and able to follow safety procedures.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Basic awareness of health & safety and safeguarding.
Desirable:
* Previous experience working with children (e.g., childcare, play centres, schools).
* First Aid qualification (paediatric desirable).
* Food hygiene awareness.
* Experience in hospitality, leisure, or customer service.
Working Conditions
* Based in a family pub with an indoor soft play area.
* Hours may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* Role involves standing, moving around, cleaning, and light lifting.
