As the Personal Lines Partnerships Portfolio Lead, you will play a significant role in achieving our ambitions by managing the performance and delivery of our MGA portfolio. You will lead a successful team to deliver our underwriting strategy, support external relationships, and ensure adequate risk selection and pricing sophistication across a diverse and delegated portfolio. You will provide technical and business leadership to the Underwriting function and wider business areas, while being part of an award-winning and growing UK Retail business.

What will you be doing?
The MGA Portfolio Technical role comprises four main areas:
Leadership, Team Development & Direction Setting:
You will manage a team of portfolio managers/analysts, communicating and embedding successful strategies, methodologies, and behaviors across underwriting and pricing teams. Development is important to us, and you will advocate for personal and professional growth, setting high standards.
You will lead planning and forecasting for your portfolios to ensure positive contributions to the UK Retail results, and develop technical strategies with key stakeholders to maximize opportunities.
Pricing, underwriting, and portfolio oversight:
You will design, own, and implement frameworks for underwriting, portfolio, and product oversight to ensure flawless execution of underwriting and pricing practices, with detailed understanding of performance drivers, effective monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Customer and Partner interactions:
You will proactively deliver meaningful change to stakeholders, adding value that supports profitable growth. You will also support negotiations for new and existing business relationships.
What are we looking for?
* Experience in portfolio management, pricing, and underwriting within Personal Lines or Commercial Markets.
* Skills in underwriting, pricing, and negotiation of delegated arrangements, with relevant market, financial risk, regulatory, and business awareness.
* Strong portfolio management experience and skills.
* Effective leadership and influencing abilities.
* Excellent relationship-building, active listening, needs analysis, and negotiation skills.
* Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences internally and externally.
* Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders and leading teams.
* Solution-oriented and delivery-focused mindset.
* Deep knowledge of products and lines of business.
* Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to convert analysis into insights and decisions.
* Understanding of financial dynamics of a portfolio, such as expense allocation and return on capital.
