Job Introduction
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced Clinical Negligence Claims Manager to join our Claims Handling team within the Member, Cases and Claims division.
As our new Claims Manager, you will proactively manage an active clinical negligence claims portfolio, leveraging strategic thinking and handling files efficiently to achieve positive outcomes for members and the business.
This role offers varied responsibilities in managing both medical and dental claims, suitable for qualified solicitors or experienced Claims Handlers. You will engage with diverse claims, provide insights to members, and collaborate with panel firms. It’s an opportunity to grow your career and make a meaningful impact.
Working within a multi-disciplinary team, success depends on building trusting relationships with internal stakeholders, including Claims Assistants, Claims Managers, and Technical Consultants, as well as external panel firms. Effective collaboration and proactive workload management are essential.
You will develop your claims portfolio across various complexities, values, disciplines, and jurisdictions, supported by a technical development framework. Additionally, you will coach and support colleagues.

About the Team/Day in the Life
The Claims Team manages claims from inception to resolution, including instructing external solicitor firms when necessary. Our Medicolegal and Dentolegal Consultants also contribute clinical input.
Role Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of claims end-to-end, appropriate to your experience
* Assess facts, law, apportionment, quantum, and costs to devise case strategies
* Create and maintain accurate claims estimates
* Address and resolve apportionment issues
* Gather documentation and evidence from members and witnesses
* Commission expert reports and legal input as needed
* Draft and serve responses and relevant documentation
* Engage in settlement negotiations and use ADR/mediation when appropriate
* Ensure smooth transition to in-house solicitors when required
* Collaborate with external litigation solicitors for strategic guidance
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone with:
* Proven understanding of Clinical Negligence law/claims and strategic claims management skills
* Experience in claims management or litigation, especially in clinical negligence, personal injury, or professional negligence
* Ability to handle a high volume of claims independently with effective assessment skills
* Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, tact, and empathy skills
* Capacity to manage a caseload proactively within service standards
* Ability to challenge advice appropriately and develop knowledge across jurisdictions
* Comfort in managing both Dental and Medical claims of varying complexity
