The role:
* As Food Buyer, you will manage a designated group of food categories and be responsible for delivering long-term profitability along with budgeted income and terms agreements.
* The Food Buyer will negotiate with the supply base to ensure lowest cost prices and most cost-effective routes to market.
* Working with the category and NPD teams, the Food Buyer will deliver range and NPD opportunities that contribute to the company's strategy.
* The Food Buyer will collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure suppliers deliver SLAs and meet customer demand.
* You will lead and manage the category review process, recommending cost-saving initiatives and presenting pricing and market analysis with recommendations.
* Candidates should currently be working in a food buying role within food retail, wholesale, hospitality, or foodservice.
* The Food Buyer should demonstrate a passion for trading, commerciality, and negotiation skills.
* Excellent influencing and presentation skills are essential, along with the ability to build internal and external relationships.
* Hands-on buying experience and direct negotiation with suppliers using various tactics and styles are required.
* Must be a team player with excellent communication skills.
* Good insight and data analysis skills are necessary to identify and act on profit opportunities.
* Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and proactively, are important.
