Production Group Leader - Food Manufacturing
Location: Wakefield
Salary: £40,000 - £43,000
Role
As Production Group Leader, you will take responsibility for leading a team of operators on shift, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high‑quality delivery of production targets. You will act as a key link between shop‑floor teams and senior leadership, driving performance and maintaining high standards across all operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, coach, and develop a team of production operators
* Deliver daily production plans, ensuring targets and KPIs are met
* Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture
* Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and quality standards
* Manage staffing, resources, and shift performance effectively
* Lead daily team briefings and maintain accurate production records
* Identify and resolve operational issues in real time
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including waste reduction and efficiency gains
* Work closely with engineering and quality teams to resolve issues quickly
* Support problem solving and root cause analysis activities
Candidate Requirements
* Proven leadership experience within a manufacturing or food production environment
* Strong communication and team management skills
* Ability to motivate and organise teams to achieve results
* Good understanding of production processes and equipment
* A proactive and hands‑on approach to problem solving
Desirable
* Experience in food manufacturing environments
* Knowledge of GMP, HACCP or similar food safety standards
* Awareness of lean manufacturing principles such as 5S
