Marine Water Quality Officer
Our ambition is that by 2050, waters from catchment to coast are cleaner and thriving. We need a Marine Water Quality Officer to help make this happen.
Two positions (one permanent, one fixed‑term 6 months) will join the Marine team in Operations Catchment Services to support evidence‑based decision making.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide timely answers to technical questions.
* Review reports and summarise key information for decision‑making.
* Use data to inform water‑quality models.
* Apply sound records‑management principles.
* Interpret monitoring data and model outputs to support environmental protection.
* Summarise and communicate technical work, and escalade challenges when needed.
* Build strong relationships across a dispersed team and with external partners.
* Use initiative to contribute to the team and wider organisation.
Qualifications & Experience
* A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline; professional membership is desirable.
* Experience in data analysis and, ideally, modelling software.
* Knowledge of tools such as Excel, Access, R, Power BI, GIS, Mike or Cormix.
* Strong communication skills to convey complex information to non‑technical audiences.
* Ability to work virtually, and willingness to travel for occasional national meetings.
* Training and development opportunities will be provided.
Other Details
The role includes incident response duties, for which full training and support will be provided. Additional payment and flexible arrangements may be available.
