The Project Controls Senior Field Engineer supports the Project Controls Manager and the operations team throughout all phases of construction, including estimation, plan development, budgeting, construction, and commissioning. This role is responsible for using design documents to develop construction work steps and scope trackers aligned to operational intent for use by project controls peers and field operations to plan, track, monitor, and forecast quantities, time, labor, and cost for the project.
The ideal candidate should be proficient in the necessary software, including Microsoft Suite, Google Sheets, Bluebeam Studio, and Revit. The role requires independent decision-making, critical thinking skills, the ability to interpret construction process from engineering documents, and the application of constructability means and methods to the documentation of scope. The candidate must also be able to collaborate with diverse teams, both on-site and in the office. Some responsibilities will be office-based, particularly those related to documentation and planning, while others will require on-site presence for field walks and meetings with stakeholders.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Technical Associate, Bachelor's Degree, or a related technical certification is preferred (EIT, PE, BSCM)
Experience: 5-10 years' experience in drafting, preconstruction engineering, electrical field supervision, or related job experience. Proficiency in construction software.
Travel: Up to 50%
Work Schedule: Typical work hours are between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Reviews project drawings and specifications thoroughly to document construction work steps and sequences.
* Participates in project kickoff meetings.
* Leads scope review conversations with internal project stakeholders to document and organize who, how, what, and where for the execution of responsible scope.
* Participates in internal team meetings to clarify project requirements and present findings.
* Collaborates with the engineering team to interpret design intent.
* Collaborates with estimating to interpret constructability intent.
* Collaborates with the field supervisors to ensure recognition of design and constructability intent and to identify conflicts from those with budget (estimate), schedule, or material quantities with the operational intent.
* Attends site meetings and conducts site walks to document progress and execution status.
* Receives guidance from the Project Controls Manager.
* Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
