JOB SUMMARY:
The Production Team Leader supports the Production Supervisors and Managers to ensure safe, effective, and efficient day-to-day operations. They drive team performance, maintain control of KPIs, ensure labour is deployed effectively, inspect product quality, manage schedules, and support continuous improvement across their area.
The Role:
• Work with Production Supervisor to set daily targets and objectives.
• Focus on delivery metrics: OTIF and schedule adherence.
• Control KPIs, schedule, exceptions, and daily issues.
• Maintain constant presence in the area/cell to support flow and tackle issues immediately.
• Manage hourly, daily, and weekly schedules to ensure bottlenecks never stop.
• Run through breaks on critical bottlenecks and reassign labour as required.
• Ensure daily counts, throughput data, and progress updates are reported accurately.
• Ensure work is completed as planned during overtime periods.
• Lead, mentor, coach, and support team members daily.
• Build positive working relationships with colleagues, management, and other functions.
• Perform informal discussions to tackle issues promptly.
• Conduct team briefings when required and document attendance.
• Provide absentee lists to Supervisors or Production Managers.
• Support training & development activities and validate training progress (Apprentice training lead)
• Promote a flexible, agile mindset within the team.
• Maintain strong communication and act as a positive role model.
• Support and communicate with team members regarding individual performance.
• Cover for the Production Supervisor when absent, maintaining safe and efficient operations.
Education and Experience:
• Familiar with H&S procedures
• Relevant vocational qualification fabrication and welding
• Extensive hands-on experience in fabrication & welding
• Strong & demonstrated leadership skills
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Familiar with lean manufacturing techniques
• Experience with quality control and problem solving
• Computer Literate in MS Office
The hours of work:
Monday to Thursday 06.00am to 15.00pm and Friday 06.00am to 11.00am (39 hours per week)
