Breast Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and clinically skilled nurse to join our existing team of Breast Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists in a part‑time post of 22.5 hours. The post holder will need to have experience within Breast cancer pathways.
The post holder will provide expert clinical and supportive care for patients diagnosed with Breast cancer and work with the Local Multidisciplinary Team to support patients throughout their diagnostic and treatment pathway, delivering individualised, compassionate and informed patient care.
- Provide specialist advice, support and education to patients throughout the Breast Cancer pathway, from diagnosis to treatment completion.
- Play a pivotal role within the Breast Cancer team, delivering specialist information, high‑quality care, assessment, advice and support for patients on a suspected breast cancer pathway, and managing investigative procedures and eventual treatment.
- Extend support to patients’ families/carers and collaborate with both internal and external Health Care Professionals, promoting a seamless service within a multi‑professional framework.
- Provide guidance, supervision and training to peers and junior staff members.
- Maximise the quality of care by establishing strong communication links with Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
- Ensure national cancer targets are met along the patient pathway, alerting appropriate personnel to prevent potential breaches.

Experience
- Current specialist knowledge in Breast Cancer
- Clinical experience in this specialty
- Experience of service development and implementation of change
- Experience of teaching and assessing in the clinical area
- Ward Management experience
- Broad range of clinical experience
Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse (RGN)
- 1st Degree or working towards one (Relevant healthcare related) or at an equivalent level
- Teaching and assessing certificate
- Clear evidence of continuing professional development
- Clinical Examination/diagnostics module
- Advanced Communication Skills
- Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information to patients and relatives in a variety of settings
- Ability to analyse data and provide written reports
- Ability to manage work autonomously, within broad clinical parameters
- Knowledge of professional and NHS issues, and policy relating to the specialist area
- Ability to present information to professional groups
- Ability to perform assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care
- In conjunction with other clinical colleagues, develop and plan specialised care pathways for patients
- Ability to clinically lead and influence staff
- Ability to perform advanced clinical skills within the Trust Policy framework
- Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues
- Ability to manage own workload
- Intermediate IT Skills
- Experience in carrying out Holistic Needs Assessment and care planning
