Job Title: Information Governance Assistant

Starting Salary: £24,404 opportunity to progress to £25,584 per annum (pro rata for part time) – pay award pending

Hours: 35.0

Location: Stevenage/Hybrid

About The Team

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an officer to work within the Information Governance Unit of Hertfordshire County Council. This post will provide a unique opportunity to gain experience in the fields of Freedom of Information (FOI), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) and Data Protection (DP). While enabling the County Council to remain transparent and open about important decisions that are being made.

Our well-established, but small team is a specialist team within Hertfordshire County Council, at the heart of the Information Governance Unit.

We promote and enable access to information held by the County Council by being responsible for handling the County Councils responses to all information requests made under FOI, EIR and DP.

About The Role

This role will be to manage the initial request and support the relevant teams in obtaining the requested information. The successful candidates role will include:



* Logging of FOI, EIR and DP requests.
* Process simple requests for information.
* Send reminders for outstanding information.
* Produce stats.
* Allocation of request to the correct Practitioners.


About You

As a confident communicator, you will be required to build strong working relationships with all staff. Encourage a culture of openness and facilitating access to, and provision of, official information is essential to this role. Skills that are essentials for this role include:

Essential:


* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Microsoft Office skills, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams.
* Ability to meet deadlines/KPI’s and work under pressure.


Desirable:


* A background in / understanding of Information Governance.
